Lithography giant ASML predicts sales to reach 60 billion euros in the next five years

Semiconductor equipment manufacturing giant ASML, a leading producer of lithography machines, made a notable announcement on Thursday. The company forecasted an impressive sales growth of 8% to 14% over the next five years.‌ This growth is primarily fueled by the booming artificial intelligence (AI) sector, which has sparked robust demand for ASML's advanced tools, providing a powerful impetus for its sales increase‌.

ASML's Chief Executive Officer, Christophe Fouquet, stated in a declaration, "We anticipate expanding our EUV technology into the next decade, enabling ASML to contribute to and capitalize on the AI opportunity." His words reflect the company's strong confidence in leveraging the AI trend‌1. He further added that this opportunity would drive significant revenue and profitability growth for ASML, sending a positive signal to investors and the industry as a whole‌.

Looking even further ahead, the company predicted that by 2030, its revenue would reach a scale of 44 billion to 60 billion euros, with a gross margin maintained between 56% and 60%. Notably, this forecast aligns with the previous long-term guidance issued by the company in 2022, demonstrating the consistency and stability of its strategic planning‌.

However, ASML's journey has not been without challenges. Earlier in October, the company reported its third-quarter earnings, which fell below analyst expectations for the first time in years. This situation arose due to special circumstances in the chip market faced by major customers such as Intel and Samsung. While the chip market related to AI remained active, other segments exhibited weakness, prompting these customers to delay equipment orders and impacting ASML's short-term earnings‌.
