Belago infrared LED creates Supernode high-precision sweeping robot

Supernode and ams OSRAM have collaborated to achieve precise obstacle avoidance for robotic vacuum cleaners through the use of Belago infrared LEDs. Thanks to Belago's exceptional infrared fill light capability, robotic vacuum cleaners can significantly enhance their object recognition abilities, enabling precise obstacle avoidance. The Belago dot projector features a miniature package that is compatible with standard lead-free reflow processes, making it suitable for various 3D sensing platforms, including mobile devices, IoT devices, and robots.

Ams OSRAM (SIX: AMS) announced today a joint venture with Supernode Innovation Technology, a leading provider of multi-industry 3D vision solutions in China, to introduce a household robotic vacuum cleaner solution equipped with ams OSRAM's advanced Belago infrared LEDs. This collaboration has significantly improved the robot's visual recognition capabilities, marking a revolutionary advancement in the field of home cleaning and industrial service robots.

The navigation system is the core component of a robotic vacuum cleaner, serving as its "nerve center" responsible for collecting environmental information, determining its own position, and planning its path. The robotic vacuum cleaner solution developed through this collaboration is equipped with ams OSRAM's Belago 1.2 Dot Pattern Illuminator infrared LED. This infrared LED offers outstanding infrared fill light functionality, providing dot patterns and infrared illumination on textureless surfaces such as white walls. The Belago emitter generates approximately 5,000 dots at a wavelength of 940nm, allowing stereo matching algorithms to process these low-texture scenarios and produce highly accurate depth maps. Another benefit of the dot pattern is that it reduces the computational load required for depth calculations.

The application of Belago has significantly enhanced the object recognition capabilities of robotic vacuum cleaners, enabling them to precisely avoid obstacles and efficiently plan cleaning paths. The Belago dot projector's miniature package and compatibility with standard lead-free reflow processes make it widely applicable to various 3D sensing platforms, including mobile devices, IoT devices, and robots. Furthermore, Belago LEDs comply with eye safety standards, ensuring safe usage. With multiple Belago infrared LEDs, the visual recognition solution can achieve a maximum recognition distance of 60-70 meters under bright light conditions.
