Jolt Capital acquires and invests in Dolphin Design to build a hybrid IP business
Jolt Capital has acquired the power management and signal processing IP business (i.e., the "IP business") of Dolphin Design, a leader in mixed-signal semiconductor IP solutions, through the newly established Dolphin Semiconductor, and has committed to investing 26 million euros in Dolphin Semiconductor. Laurent Monge, former President of Metrologic Group, has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of Dolphin Semiconductor.
Dolphin Design has always been at the forefront of providing cutting-edge mixed-signal IP solutions, renowned for its unparalleled energy efficiency, robustness, and performance. Its business encompasses fabless design and licensing of both digital and analog IPs, as well as custom ASICs. The IP business acquired by Dolphin Semiconductor (power management and audio IPs) accounts for approximately 60% of Dolphin Design's revenue and patent portfolio. Dolphin Semiconductor will operate the IP business under its new brand - "Dolphin Semiconductor," reflecting Jolt Capital's ambition to deepen technical expertise and expand the influence of its IP business in the semiconductor industry. Power management and audio IP solutions empower customers to design smarter, more energy-efficient, and future-oriented ICs. With this investment, Jolt Capital plans to drive Dolphin Semiconductor to strengthen innovation and establish itself as a trusted partner for leading semiconductor companies globally.
Benefiting from Jolt Capital's expertise, Dolphin Semiconductor will expand its operations to meet the growing demand for advanced semiconductor IPs in key markets, including industrial, high-performance computing, consumer electronics, IoT, and automotive. The committed 26 million euros from Jolt Capital will be invested in phases, supporting Dolphin Semiconductor's scaling-up stage by enhancing its R&D and commercial activities and allowing for integration opportunities. The newly established Dolphin Semiconductor welcomes its new CEO, Laurent Monge.
